Story: Prime Alexander is a professional athlete living the life most men dream of. He has a huge guaranteed contract, beautiful women chasing him and the best friends a man could ask for. The Coalition (2013) Review by Ed_Blackadder from Mrs Miggins' Pie Shoppe
Storyline: This is a fairly light hearted story of a group of youngwoman who have been hurt in one way or another by the men in theirlife. It's not original but it's still nice to see a fresh take on afamiliar theme.
Acting: This is a mixed bag of talent, while the woman were great theguys were a bit flat and wooden even, at times. I don't know if it wasa casting thing or perhaps the direction but if I had to guess I thinkit's down to a few of the actors simply not being experienced enoughyet. I loved Jackée Harry as the Granny and as usual performed well. Idon't think she has ever been anything but good. Adrienne Bailon (TheCheetah Girls) was also good. I just watched 'The Helpers' the otherday in which Denyce Lawton had a part but I'm glad to say she was farbetter in this.
Direction: Writer/Director Monica Mingo has managed her first featurewell and while this was not perfect it's still her debut and if moredirectors could do this well we would all be better off. Personally Iwas impressed that with a tiny budget, Monica Mingo has turned out adecent movie.
Production: This has been put together extremely well for $1 millionwhich even for a straight to video release is still a very smallbudget. This movie felt like it had a far greater budget and althoughthere were some well known actors there clearly were some raw recruitstoo but that's all part of the Indie Movie charm, isn't it?
Conclusion: I love Indie fliks and this was enjoyable. Even though I'mmale I still got something out of it which is ultimately all thatmatters. Recommended.

Imagine all the worst chick flicks produced and extract the worstmoments and you get close to The Coalition; it almost has a plot, it isfull of stereo types and shallow individuals and is more about attitudethan substance. Some rotten tomatoes needed for the producers of thistrivial piece. It is your classic good girl meets insensitive guy whois also a player story, There is so many girls getting it on withvarious men that it is not possible to keep up with which sassycharacter is linked with which stereotypical player. The men treat thewomen like objects, the women treat each other like objects and thinkof the men as suppliers. I am living in a place that is famous for theway it treats its ladies but if this posturing piece of triviarepresents anyones real life we may as well turn out the lights onhumanity... needless to say I don't like it :)
